NEW BELIEVERS

If you’re new to faith, or just want to learn more about God and Jesus and what this whole Christianity thing is about, we’re here to walk you through what we believe as followers of Jesus.

The Good News

1. God loves us.
We read in the Bible in John 3:16 that “This is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” The problem is that...
2. We all sin.
We read in the Bible in Romans 3:23 that "Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." God is perfect and holy and the things we do wrong separate us from God. The Good News is that...
3. God sent Jesus to rescue us.
Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead and is now in heaven with God the Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life—of living forever with him in heaven—and his guidance through the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells us that...
4. We need to accept God’s gift of love and forgiveness.
God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. You can talk to God and ask Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your life.

If this is what I believe, how do I respond?

If you want to accept the forgiveness and leadership of Jesus, you can pray a simple prayer like this:

God, thank for creating me and loving me. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for my sins. Today, I ask you to forgive my sins. I give you the leadership of my life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can follow you always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You’ve said “YES” to a relationship with Jesus!
So, what’s next?

We’ve found these four steps to be the most helpful in developing your faith:

1. Read the Bible regularly.

2. Be engaged at church.

3. Find a group for support.

4. Start to serve.

Reading the Bible

Not sure where to start reading? A great place to begin is with the New Testament book of John. John was a close friend of Jesus and shares his firsthand experience of Jesus’ life. If you’re not sure how to read the Bible, we recommend the following method:

Choose a short Bible passage (a chapter or even a few verses) and read it.

Write down 1-2 observations about the passage. What stuck out to you? What could the main message be?

How does this apply to your life? How can I practice what I’m learning?

Talk to God, or even write out a short prayer, about what you’ve read.
